Exactly two weeks after our last release, we are happy to announce the availability of new JomSocial 3.0.3 version. This update does not only fix numerous bugs reported before September 1^st but it also contains a fix to one moderate security issue and improves the date picker even more. It also brings some new changes to Hello Me module configuration.

Actually, it can read your profile.

Everyone on Facebook has a profile, and that profile is packed with valuable information. It let advertisers be very specific about who sees their ads. Google has nothing that comes close. AdWords? That’s so five years ago. Social ads are what it’s all about now. It’s the secret of successful advertising and it’s what’s made Mark Zuckerberg a very rich man.

JomSocial 3 comes packed with new features and enhancements. We added responsive design, a new template, cover photos and a whole lot more. The response has been terrific but the new version of JomSocial also has a number of new features that have received a lot less attention. They’re not as obvious as many of the other improvements but they are just as important.

So it’s ready! JomSocial 3.0 (stable release) is out. It’s been a long journey and I’d like to thank you for being patient with us while we take JomSocial to a whole new level of quality and functionality.

And this is just the beginning.

It’s been two weeks since we released RC1 — and as promised, we’re now ready to release RC2!
 
This version brings us a lot closer to a stable release of JomSocial 3.

A few weeks ago, I sent an invitation to our subscribers, developers and translators to apply to participate in a closed beta testing program. We approved 110 applications and the testers got to work. It turned out to be a hugely valuable opportunity. We were able to catch a number of bugs that we wouldn’t have been able to find in-house. We also set a new standard in beta testing. It was very important that the beta testers deliver well-written bug reports. To reproduce the problems and fix them quickly, we need to understand them. Luckily, our beta testers have been doing an outstanding job using our bug report template. 

A few weeks ago I told you about our progress testing JomSocial 3.0. A lot has happened since then:

• We finished the second round of internal testing — and found about 26 new bugs.
• We finished a round of ad hoc testing — and found another 20 new bugs.

And with hard work and big, heavy boots we squished all of those bugs.

A few weeks ago I sent an email explaining the JomSocial testing process and updating the status of JomSocial 3.0. We got some great responses from that newsletter and I wanted to give you another update.

First, you can be sure that I read ALL your comments, whether they’re placed on Facebook or written on our blog. I take them to heart. One of the first things I remember reading when I took over the JomSocial project was that some people felt that they "Paid to be QA testers" every time they upgraded.  That’s when I realized our testing process wasn’t comprehensive enough to support an application this complex.

A quick hotfix to deal with broken translations on some servers has just been released. This version also has a fix for the bug with changing the profile avatar.

This is another non-security, 2.8.4 hotfix release.

If you do not experience  issues with broken English (en-GB) translation and innability to change avatar from profile page, you are not required to update to this version.
