At JomSocial we always strive to be on the cutting edge of development and design. So when we started planning version 3.3, which is mostly about a fantastic, new design, we realized that continue to support IE8 would be tremendously limiting.
As the owner of JomSocial I see a lot of awesome communities. They cover a range of topics from sci-fi geeks and gamers to musicians and hockey players. I am constantly amazed at what people have achieved with JomSocial and I often wonder how they got started. How did they get their first members? How do they persuade people to be more active, contribute, comment and post?
JomSocial is a big, beautiful application but one that's also complex and contains hidden depths. To get the most out of it, it's a good idea to put a bit of time into learning its ways.
Great news! Three new JomSocial plugins now are now available for Publisher - our amazing publishing platform.
A big concern since iJoomla took over the JomSocial project has been customer service. The vast majority of our customers are very happy but when issues have arisen, some customers haven’t always received the quality of service we want to provide.
We had a busy week at JomSocial. First, Joomla released version 3.3 and lots of customers were fast to upgrade, many without even knowing they were doing so (see my previous post). This Joomla version created a few new issues around user login/sessions in not only JomSocial but also Guru, Ad Agency and Publisher, so it’s probable that many other Joomla extensions are affected by this version.
We quickly released a new version 3.2.0.3 with a fix to this issue but then the next day, customers started reporting a problem with Facebook Connect. At first we thought it was a result of the changes we made but then we found that Facebook API itself was modified and created this problem. This issue was tricky because they simply stopped supporting certain function so we had to find a way around it, and so we did.
Joomla! 3.3 has just been released and a few JomSocial customers have already reported a bug. They found that some JomSocial users were being logged out. This conflict affected almost every aspect of JomSocial and made it unusable.
Our team got to work immediately and squished the bug. The fix is now available on version 3.2.0.3.
The highly anticipated JomSocial 3.2, stable release is here!
It took us three-and-a-half months to develop and another month to find and squish all the bugs… but boy, was it worth it!
Our own community uses the latest version and we’re really grateful to everyone who visited and made comments and suggestions. We read all the comments we received and they did help us to correct bugs and make improvements. A special thanks goes to our awesome beta testers.
Last week we released JomSocial 3.2 RC1. After a week of bug fixing and a short lived RC2, we are now ready for RC3!
We’ve received some great feedback following the release of RC1. These are just some of the comments that people have sent us:
We put a lot of effort into JomSocial 3.2 so we really appreciate that feedback. It really spurs us on as we keep working hard to bring you the best social networking app ever!
