It’s been two weeks since we released RC1 — and as promised, we’re now ready to release RC2!
 
This version brings us a lot closer to a stable release of JomSocial 3.

What’s New in RC2?

Tooltips on the backend

 
Since taking over JomSocial in January 2013, I’ve wanted to enhance the documentation to make the extension easier for customers to use.
 
We’ve already added video tutorials and a comprehensive wiki. Now we’ve added an explanatory tooltip to every single field on the backend. Hover over the dashed line on the field’s label, and you’ll see exactly what it does. This week we will be re-writing many of the tooltips to make them more clear and user-friendly.
 
The help you need will always be right at your fingertips!

Bug Fixes

We managed to squish a lot of bugs reported by our customers and beta testers. You can find the full change log here:

You can download the RC2 on our forum. Only those with an active license can access this forum post, so be sure to renew your subscription if it has expired.

Upgrading JomSocial Tutorials

Upgrading JomSocial to 3.0 is a pretty simple process but it needs to be done right. We’ve created three upgrade tutorials for you:.

• If you’re upgrading JomSocial on Joomla 2.5, view this tutorial (video included).
• If you’re upgrading JomSocial and Joomla from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.x, view this tutorial (video included).
• If you accidentally installed JomSocial 2.8.x on Joomla 3.x, please visit this tutorial, with video, to get back on the right track.

Conflicts with 3rd Party Extensions

During beta testing our testers have found some conflicts with 3rd party extensions.If you're using Joomlart, Rockettheme or Gavick template, you'd want to read this article for a description of the conflict and the status of resolution. Stable Version Coming Within 2 Weeks!

We aim to release the stable version of JomSocial within two weeks, we'll let you know when it's released! Meantime you can safely install this RC2 on development sites.
