JomSocial To Drop Internet Explorer 8 Support From Version 3.2.1
At JomSocial we always strive to be on the cutting edge of development and design. So when we started planning version 3.3, which is mostly about a fantastic, new design, we realized that continue to support IE8 would be tremendously limiting.
About 2 percent of users still use IE8 but any adaptations we make for it create a poorer experience for everyone. So we decided to drop support for the browser starting from version 3.2.1.
This has been a long time coming. A number of major companies, including Google, dropped their support late last year. You can read about all the benefits that come with ditching support for IE8 here: http://blog.fili.nl/benefits-of-dropping-ie8-support/
Without IE8’s restrictions, we’ll be much freer to exceed our customers’ expectations and build an application they’ll be proud to show on their websites.
