Joomla 3.3 & JomSocial Conflict

Joomla! 3.3 has just been released and a few JomSocial customers have already reported a bug. They found that some JomSocial users were being logged out. This conflict affected almost every aspect of JomSocial and made it unusable.

Our team got to work immediately and squished the bug. The fix is now available on version 3.2.0.3.

You may not be aware you’re upgrading to Joomla 3.3

There is also a bug in Joomla itself. The system tells you that there is an upgrade ready for Joomla 3.2.4 but the upgrade is actually to Joomla 3.3. Be aware of that before you click that blue button!

Upgrade JomSocial Today!

If you plan to upgrade your Joomla to 3.3, make sure you first upgrade JomSocial to 3.2.0.3 to avoid serious issues later. Don’t click that upgrade button before you’re ready!

Something to remember...

If you are upgrading to a new Joomla version, it’s always a good idea to first check that the extensions on your site are ready to support it. If you’re not sure, ask the developer. In any case, first upgrade to your development or testing site to make sure that nothing breaks.

And what about Joomla 2.5?

If you’re using Joomla 2.5, you have nothing to worry about. The bug that we found is only on the latest Joomla 3.3. That said, it’s always a good idea to keep up with the latest version of JomSocial as it contains new bug fixes and features (check out our change log here).
