Nice Talk application anyone?

I'm back.. with more cool stuffs! I have recently received numerous requests on this and perhaps this might be a good addition for Nice Talk / JomSocial combo users. Here's some screens of what's coming up next ;)

( Installed application )

( Applications listing in the profile page )

( If user is viewing his / her own profile, they will be able to see the 'Add Topic' link which allows them to quickly add a new topic in Nice Talk )

P/S: The application requires Nice Talk 1.0 ( Yet to be released) and these screens are still freshly baked from the oven which may or may not require changes in the future.

 Bite that! ;)

Advanced user points

Wow, this is my first post in the blog. Anyway, if you guys haven't really get to know me, I am Kok Fee, one of the developers over at Azrul.com . You can call me 'Teh' though it is always problematic in your spellcheckers. :P

Here's something for JomSocial 1.1, which allows administrator to manage the user points more efficiently

(Backend screen which allows administrator to edit the points from the list of points that is already added in the system)

alt

(Allows administrator to scan for rules definition list from 3rd party components)

Cheers!

Some of the new features

Hi, I am Alex Yap from Jomsocial.com / Azrul.com . I am a system developer and most of my work revolves around application and module development. I am in charge of most of the API / triggers that you see around the codes. If there are any triggers / plugins / applications that you think needs to be added in JomSocial, feel free to let me know.

Apart from this, I am also posting some new features which we have added recently into JomSocial.

Members filter that allows user to filter against the 'Newest' , 'Active' and 'Popular' members.

This is the profile activity stream and if you do notice the top right pane, there is actually additional 2 new links which allows you to filter the activities that gets displayed.

Apart from basic / normal /boring filtering, these filterings are actually done through AJAX and very interactive!

These filtering can also be called by 3rd party and I will be writing about this in the documentations very shortly.

=)

Group invites is here!

Hola! It's me again ;) We have received numerous requests on this and I have actually added this today and hopefully this is just in time to make it into 1.1 release. Here's some screens that shows the feature of the group invitations.

( New tab for group administrators that will lead to the invitation page )

The list of 'Friends' actually is the listing of friends for the owner / group administrator. Adding / removing users from the list are all pretty interactive and heavily relies on Javascript ;)

We are actually looking forward for another feature in the future where group owner will be able to send out invites to mail addresses as well.

Rome was not built in a day

And so is JomSocial.

I can understand the excitement JomSocial has generated over the last 2 months. Joomla site admin finally has an easy to use and rather simple to setup social networking components to add to their site, all in a single comprehensive package. Literally thousands of sites have used JomSocial and are building a thriving community online, (not counting tens of thousands more of you guys out there using unlicensed copy!)

I would like to personally thank all of you (especially paid members! : ) for making JomSocial what it is today. I have tremendous gratitute for all of you who are willing to give us a chance. We are still new and we are overwhelmed with the trust you guys have given us.

Coming up next..

Apologies for the "disappearing" act in this blog. That is actually a good thing, why ? because the team is busy wrapping up version 1.1 . First, a couple of updates.
  1. More and more partners are joining JomSocial and we are very happy with the JomSocial adoption rate so far. A quick google on 'jomsocial' return almost 100,000 results, compared to a mere 4,000 the day we released it.
  2. Our office was broken into!. We lost 2 laptops, including mine :( and some new MyBlog codes. (had to re-write those!)
  3. JomSocial Network will be launched soon. What is this JomSocial Network? I'll explain in another blog entry, but all you need to know now is, we want to help you increase your traffic!
  4. New 1.1 release is going to be released soon.

What's new in JomSocial 1.1 ? Well, we haven't quite done with it yet, but among other things

  1. "Reporting" API. User can easily report any content to the site admin. With a nice API, any 3rd party apps can also implement this in their apps.
  2. Configurable user point system. You can now decide how many points to give for each action and apply some access control over it.
  3. We have also revamped the activity stream API to allow any 3rd party apps to easily add new activity notification to JomSocial.
  4. Some tweaks to the front-page. It will show, not only the recent members, but also top and active members too.
  5. Support for JomSocial Network. (Coming soon...)
  6. and many more .. (yeah that sounds a bit cliche)

CommunityPraise JomSocial Template Now Available

Hey everybody!

My name is Shawn, and as the eMarketing guy here at Azrul.com/JomSocial.com, I just wanted to give you all a quick update on some cool things our JomSocial partners have been working on.

As you may already know, JomSocial Pro comes standard with some nice templates right out of the box (many of you are already using our templates with great success on your sites and some have even edited the styles further to better match your sites' look & feel...way to go!)

But today, I'm happy to announce that the first 3rd party JomSocial template is now available from our friends at JoomlaPraise. It's called CommunityPraise, and I think you'll agree, it looks pretty darn cool! There is a demo and a short screencast now at JoomlaPraise, if you want to test it out yourselves. There's also a very special Holiday coupon for JoomlaPraise Template Club Members to purchase JomSocial Pro--in case you still haven't bought your copy yet. It's a great deal.

Hats off to Kyle and his team at JP for an awesome template!

With that said, this is only the beginning. JomSocial's buzz is building and the word is spreading fast! Developers are signing on just about every week with us.

And I've been working hard behind the scenes making sure they all get the help they need to develop even more templates, more apps and more JomSocial plug-ins.

I can't give you the details right now, but more stuff is definitely coming!  :)

I'll post every announcement here....so stay tuned.

 -Shawn

Reportings !

Yeah! Finally some time off from coding.  I have seen quite a number of users requesting this feature and now, here's a little sneak preview of what's coming up very shortly =P

( Frontend view when a user tries to submit a report )

( Frontend view once a user submitted a report )

( Backend view for administrators to manage these reports )

The idea behind the entire reporting feature is so that 3rd party developers, be it a plugin developer, application developer could very easily use this library and not to mention it only requires a couple of lines to generate the reporting link. ; )
