Guys, we have an exciting tour coming up early next month and we want to meet you up! In conjunction with Joomla Day West, JomSocial team will be all over the US and this is your chance to meet with people behind JomSocial, the revolutionary open source community software.

Joomla Day West this year will be held in San Jose, CA, in the first week of October and JomSocial team is excited to be a part of it. If you are not a conference-type of a person, you will be glad to know that the 3-day event will feature three different formats which will keep you excited through out the event: Friday's Joomla Night, Saturday's Unconference and Sunday's Hackable Conference.

Azrul will be available through the event but if you have questions and suggestions on JomSocial 2.0, do catch up with him on Saturday's Unconference session.

Ramadhan is almost over and Eid ul-Fitri celebration (we pronounce it Hari Raya Aidilfitri here) will mark the end of Ramadhan. This year, Eid most probably will be observed on September 10, depending local lunar observation.

Eid in Malaysia is mostly celebrated by people hosting open houses with  range of delicious dishes. We will visit relatives' houses, enjoy the dishes, forgive each other and reconnect the  bond. Children, on the other hand, would be happy to collect Raya money from their working relatives.

During this period, some of our staff would be taking extra leaves and our support level will be limited from Wednesday, Sept 8 until Monday, Sept 13. Some of our tech support will still be answering questions in the support forum but you might experience some delay. Some of us will be responding to your sales & billings tickets, but if you are planning to do a major modification and/or installation, we suggest that you hold off until our entire tech support team are all back from the holiday break.

We are throwing a little challenge to Malaysian student designers. We want students to share with us how they think the next generation social networking site should look like!

Tell us how you think social networking site users should share their pictures, videos, friend list, updates and even how they should communicate with their friends. If you have more ideas of a comprehensive look, you can submit more than one design into a single submission. Be creative, your design can look totally different from what we have now. You can provide a unique design for each activity where for example, the design for photo sharing is different from video sharing.

MSC Apicta 2010 award presentation ceremony was held yesterday at Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. If you're wondering, Apicta stands for "Asia Pacific ICT Alliance" . In short, it is one of the most prestigious ICT awards in this side of the world, even more so in Malaysia where we are based on.

JomSocial was one of the finalist in the "e-Inclusion and e-Community" category. Meriza and I was there, representing JomSocial team. I have to give it to the organizer, they do know how to keep the event tense and exciting (with tacky background music!). Although I am generally indifference to most awards (I am more concern getting awards from YOU, our users!), it is exciting to watch the winner announced one by one from the 17 available categories.

On Thursday, 5 August 2010, I will be giving a talk at "E-commerce for Global Reach", an event organized by Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) and PIKOM.

I will give a short talk on social media as an enterprise tool and how it has changed the economic and political landscape. I would touch a little bit on Enterprise 2.0 trends and social network in general. If you are using JomSocial as an intranet collaboration tools, let us know here and I'd be happy to highlight  your project.

I won't be alone during this session, Timoty Tiah, co-founder of Nuffnang, Ruhani Rubin, VP, MOL-Friendster and Dato' Razali Awang, CIO of TNB (Malaysian's largest utility provider) will also be sharing their thoughts on social media as well.
