JomSocial Received Merit Award at MSC APICTA 2010

MSC Apicta 2010 award presentation ceremony was held yesterday at Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. If you're wondering, Apicta stands for "Asia Pacific ICT Alliance" . In short, it is one of the most prestigious ICT awards in this side of the world, even more so in Malaysia where we are based on.

JomSocial was one of the finalist in the "e-Inclusion and e-Community" category. Meriza and I was there, representing JomSocial team. I have to give it to the organizer, they do know how to keep the event tense and exciting (with tacky background music!). Although I am generally indifference to most awards (I am more concern getting awards from YOU, our users!), it is exciting to watch the winner announced one by one from the 17 available categories.

When our category winner was announced, we were thrilled. Well, it wasn't us, it was another project that focus on helping the poor, which I think deserve to win. But wait, that's not the end of it. The judges feels that JomSocial deserve a Merit Award for helping people building online communities!

So, that's it folks. Another proof why JomSocial, the open source community software is awesome. We now have another piece of paper on a wooden frame to proof it!

Oh, after the event, they took the award back.. :(   and promise to send it back t to us via snail-mail. Don't ask me why.
