Hey guys, so this month, RocketTheme released a template based around JomSocial - we love it and so I thought I’d post a brief to tell you about it...
We are heading for a week long holiday to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year 2011. This is the year of the rabbit and is often associated with Calm, Gentle and Persistence.
The team will be taking a few days off in observance of the holidays. Our support will be limited from 31st January until 7th February 2011 . There will be lesser staff attending to your issues so we hope you would excuse the possible delay on our support.

You know how developers are. Once they get into the development "flow", they would be so focused on their work that they hate to stop even for a moment to blog or even take a shower.
We have been working super hard on JomSocial 2.2, so focused on our work to a point that we are a little quiet and people started to wonder if we actually work at all! Ironic.
So, after a hot shower this morning, I feel that I should share with everyone something that we have been working very hard on. The shining new activity stream! I'll just let the picture do the talking.

When we first added Advance Search into JomSocial, our initial goal was to allow users to have more flexibility and control over their search results.
It allows any user on the site to perform search through the custom fields that were created on the site. Based on the fields created by the admin, the user can then refine their search criteria.
We know you’ve been recommending JomSocial to your friends and we thank you. Really, we do appreciate it. We’ve decided that your effort should not go unappreciated. We have recently discovered a security issue where attackers might be able to execute arbitrary JavaScripts. We recommend all of our customers to apply the patch immediately. We have released patches for version 1.6.x, 1.8.x and 2.0.x
Our current toolbar for JomSocial isn't ideal. I will be the first to admit that. The main problem with current design is that all the main social objects, such as the photos, videos, groups and events are hidden under the 'Application' tab. The reason behind this decision is that, JomSocial was originally designed so that it can fit within 650-pixel wide site. There are simply not enough space to fit all those words.
The solution is rather simple. Some things don't really need explaining, IF we can get nice icons for them. So, here is our take, on a potentially new design for the toolbar.
Oh, as you can see from the shot, we have also managed to squeeze in a nice little feature, selectable toolbar color! Although customizing the toolbar is easy, we feel that giving users option to quickly change the toolbar color to match their site will save a lot of people, a lot of time.
Naturally, we will make sure most of the API for the old toolbar works and will make sure the markup behind it is solid.
