JomSocial 3.2.1 Beta Is Here!

We've almost finished JomSocial 3.2.1. As we add the final touches, we're releasing an open beta. Previous releases have had closed beta testing programs but this this time if you have an active license, you have 3.2.1 Beta access.

JomSocial 3.2.1 is packed with great features.

Real time notifications

Introduced in 3.2.0.6 and perfected in 3.2.1, you now have real time notifications. If your server isn't powerful enough to take the strain, you can change the refresh rate.

Backend settings, go to: Components > JomSocial > Configuration > Site:

Photo attachments in comments.

Now your members can show their reactions as well as write them.

Photo attachments in private messages.

Members can send each other pictures without the world seeing.

Tag anywhere!

Tag friends in photo album comments, video comments, photo comments, group discussions and private messages. In fact, just about anywhere!

How to download the 3.2.1 Beta

To download the Beta, log in to your account at JomSocial and download the latest package. Unzip the package to find the JomSocial 3.2.1 Beta installation file.

How to upgrade to JomSocial 3.2.1 Beta:

1. To upgrade by installing the package:

• From JomSocial 3.2 - Uninstall the old version. Install the new version.
• From JomSocial 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 and 3.1 - Perform a tier upgrade
• From JomSocial 1.5 - JomSocial 1.5 is very old, and is only compatible with Joomla 1.5. To upgrade to the latest JomSocial, you'll need to migrate to at least Joomla 2.5 and perform a tier upgrade.

2. To upgrade with a patch:

Due to the changes in the database structure, upgrading with patch files is no longer possible. You will need to use the Joomla Extension manager.

Remember! JomSocial 3.2.1 is still a BETA version. Do not use it on production sites. Installing JomSocial 3.2.1 Beta on your production site is done at your own risk. Please also note that we only provide support for stable versions of JomSocial. Also on non-stable product there's always a backlink to JomSocial.com.

Don't want to experiment on your live site? Create a sandbox. It's easy!

Building a sandbox is simple. Create a directory in your hosting account, install Joomla and make a copy of your live site. You can treat that site as a sandbox for testing. Install JomSocial 3.2.1 Beta there and have fun!

When will a stable version of 3.2.1 be released?

That depends on the number of bugs and problems that we find. We've been testing it internally for a while now so we don't think it will be too long.

Not ready for JomSocial 3.2.1 Beta? Upgrade to JomSocial 3.2.0.7!

We're also releasing JomSocial 3.2.0.7 which contains a hotfix. You can read the changes in the changelog. This version will not include all the cool features that 3.2.1 Beta offers but will fix the problems you may be experiencing on your site.

How to upgrade from JomSocial 3.2.0.6 to 3.2.0.7?

You can either use the iJoomla installer or upgrade by using the latest package available from JomSocial.com.
