Critical Joomla Security Update
Today Joomla released an important security patch and all Joomla users should immediately upgrade. This is a security release for the 3.x series of Joomla which addresses a critical security vulnerability. JomSocial recommend that you update your sites immediately. This release only contains the security fixes; no other changes have been made compared to the Joomla 3.4.4 release.
How to upgrade
Upgrading is reasonably simple and can be done directly in your Joomla administration panel. Follow these steps below and secure your Joomla site now!
Backup
Every site should have recent, regular tested backups. Before you modify anything on your site, take a full site backup, download it to an external location and test and confirm the backup is working in a test environment. An untested backup is the same as no backup at all. Akeeba backup is a great solution and the core version is free.
JomSocial 4.1.1 is compatible with Joomla 3.4.5
Check and upgrade JomSocial to the current version. Confirm all other components on your site are compatible with the current version of Joomla you are upgrading to. In this situation 3.4.5 is a security release only and compatibility issues should be minimal. But still worth checking

Test your site
Good practice after making any changes to your site is testing. Debugging a fault after many things have been changed is difficult. Make a change then test your site. Do this after each change you make.
Backup (Again)
Yes! We did a backup at the start, but if you have made any changes to components, we need to make another backup before we upgrade Joomla. Create it, Download it, Test it.
Upgrade Joomla to 3.4.5
There are two ways to upgrade Joomla
From your Joomla administration page
Downloading the patch files directly from joomla.org
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/releases/tag/3.4.5
Nearly finished
It's now time to fully test your site. Check login functionality, posting, activities, photos, etc. If you find a fault check to see if it was there before you upgraded. If you spot a bug, please report it on our support forum
PS Don't forget to backup now you have finished and tested your site.
