Dear support-team,

I wanted to ask if i can restrict the filter options to only User and Friends. I need a more "Facebook" like approach so that it involves more there friends in stead of every member.

You mean you want to have "Mu Friends & I" filter enabled by default and don't allow to change it?
So remove other filtering options?

If yes, then first you need to set "My friends & I" as default filter here: Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Configuration -> Layout ->
Frontpage Activity Stream box -> Default Frontpage Activity Filter set to i.imgur.com/fQCj8eW.png

Then you'll need to modify filter options by removing some of them.

Copy this file:

ROOT/components/com_community/templates/jomsocial/layouts/frontpage/base.php

to:

ROOT/templates/your-template/html/com_community/layouts/frontpage (if you don't have those folders - feel free to create them)

Edit file and in line 63 replace this:

This customization will remove all other option but "My friends & I".

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

I am trying to implement this... but when i use the Me & Friends filter in the back-end... the status update box on the frontpage is missing...

What to do?

Dear Michal...

Any idea what have gone wrong?? can i just otherwise remove the filter-box? so that they can not choose anymore? Or only show that filterbox to admin?? because that would be better so that we still can see the whole list so that we have more controle what happends on the website.

HI Michal... i am sorry...

but problem now is that page loading takes really long... it takes atleast 14 seconds for the status box to show... so i do not think that is a solution...

Isnt there a way where the filter is just shown to admins and not to normal users and that i will just take controle in the back-end for it?

edit :D it works :) and i see only my friends with test account. Maybe because i was looking with admin account that i still saw also non-friends?

In safari it loads instantly... in chrome it doesnt... there is takes a long time...
