Hi,

I am running Jomsocial 4.3.2 with Joomla 3.6.5.1!

I translated toolbar items liked described here:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Translate_Toolbar

After upgrading Joomla 3.6.5.1 => Joomla 3.7.2.1 the translation does notwork anymore!

I. e. instead of "PROFILE" one can only see "COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_PROFILE".
ROOT/language/xx-YY/xx-YY.com_community.ini (in my case ROOT/language/de-DD/de-DE.com_community.ini ist still intact and not overwritten!

Is that bug well known? Is it fixed with version 4.3.3 of Jomsocial?

Thanks and best regards
Ulli

Hi, Ulli.

Thank you for contacting us.
Please, edit your first post and below main text field is a switch - click on it, new text field will appear.
Provide us your site backend credentials and URL.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

That will not help "us" because I restored my working site with AkeebaBackup!

Best regards
Ulrike

P.S.: I could start the Upgrade => Joomla 3.7.2.1 again. But I wonder how fast you then can have a look on the site?

Hi, Ulli.

Thank you. I saw your issue. Where did you saved constants like: COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_MEMBERS?
To which file?

The best option will be to use Joomla! language override feature in Backend -> Extensions -> Languages -> Overrides jus like I did for "Profil".

Hi,

like mentioned in my first post I followed the guide under
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Translate_Toolbar

So the file is:
.../language/de-DE/de-DE.com_community.ini

And this way it was working correctly until upgading Joomla from 3.6.5.1 => J3.7.2.1.

Really wonderful!

Now the site cannot be used correctly anymore because you had not been satisfied with a screenshot and insisted on the upgrade of Joomla => 3.7.2.1

I really would appreciate a buig fix for Jomsocial making it compatible withhas soon as possible!

Hi, Ulli.

Issue is caused by changes in Joomla! 3.7.
We explained it on our blog along with how to fix it: www.jomsocial.com/blog/j37-translations

Hello,

in my de-DE.com_community.ini

you can for example see lines like:

;

; Jomsocial Toolbar
;
COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_PROFILE="Profil"
COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_CHANGE_PROFILE_PICTURE="Profil-Bild ändern"
COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_CHANGE_PROFILE_VIDEO="Profil-Video wählen"
COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_CHANGE_PROFILE="Profil bearbeiten"
COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_CHANGE_PROFILE_DETAILS="Profil-Details"
COM_COMMUNITY_TOOLBAR_CHANGE_PRIVACY="Privatsphäre"
...

That is why my translated toolbar problem does not have to do anything with the URL you provided:
www.jomsocial.com/blog/j37-translations

Because my problem after upgrading to Joomla 3.7.2.1 does not have to do anything with QUOTATION MARKS within translations themselves!

So obviously the reason for a not correct working translated toolbar after the upgrade J3.6.5.1 => J3.7.2.1 must be another one!

Could you please inform the developers of Jomsocial about that bug and ask for a fix?

Best regards

HI, Ulli.

Please, let me again in into your site backend.
I need to fire language debug to check... seems that there is some issue in Joomla!:
github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/15378
Need to check that.

I also tested on my test site and it works perfectly.
So I presume the issue is in your language file. You may send it to me as well.

Hello Michal,

I reactivated your account and upgraded again to Joomla 3.7.2.1 a few minutes ago!

The language file is located under the path provided with the Admin/MOD-View-Switch

Well,

upgrading to J3.7.2.1 results in a not correct working translated toolbar!

So it should be clear that then I cannot wait very long for any steps taken in the backend while the website does not work correct anymore!

So I had to downgrade to J3.6.5.1 again.

Ulli
