I didnt touch your site configuration..maybe you need reset your server, since your site is overload, it can be caused by all streams was be unarchived, because the archived stream will make your site faster.

Regarding gif issue, I suggest you contact your sys-admin to install imagick, and put the patch on photo configuration.

I have cheked your instruction - but there is nothing about shared server - by the way the most popular trough people wich just start, there are only instructions related to own server install.
Under own server is quite clear - what about shared server?

they don`t give this kind of service i`m more than sure.
There is no reason to contact them - give other option - more resonable to have this feature.
Because on our site are working under others components .gif only yours don`t get them.
As you have created this feature you have to make them available for all kind of users (as shared as own servers) - but beleve me almost of your customers are on shared - even on they first stage.

So find a solution to make this available for all
