ISSUE SUMMARY:
I found very confusing naming in time zones (events)

I'm sorry we are operating in Canada where we have 5 time zones
for example very common Canadian are using are
Eastern
Mountain
Pacific Etc
instead of for example america/whitehorse

Simply saying where can we change it ?

thank you

Hi.

I'm sorry but changing timezones names will require core files to hack.
You're second person that complains about it - today.
So please, post about it here: www.jomsocial.com/community/groups/viewg...stions-for-the-staff
Let developers hear you.

You see, we on support can't do much about it - developers designed it like it is now.
I understand it may confuse while creating events as not everybody may be familiar with cities/locations in timezone when proper timezone name is not used.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

HI, Creic.

It seems that group was removed... then just post in Community.

Im sorry
I'm kind of confused , is this forum then NOT support system where I guess where
1) first level of support is helping and then
2) second level of support handled internally when first level can't fix it ?

I believe you are asking me to post again in the demo community ? Is this right?
Sorry i found this confusing especially when even you did not know where to post such question?
Time zones are really confusing i will really appreciate answer how that can be fixed, modified please ?

Hi, Creic.

No, I'm asking you to post in our Community, here: www.jomsocial.com/community .
I know exactly WHERE you should post your question but I wasn't aware that group was removed in Community.

As you're asking for CHANGING the way timezones are named/displayed.
Support CAN'T CHANGE anything in source code - develop NEW behavior or solution.
There is NOTHING to fix since NOTHING is broken.
It was designed to look/work that way by developers.

So the only option to change that is to talk about this in Community, especially asking PO: Sinisa about this.

"Issue" you're reporting is not a bug or mistake or issue at all.
It's just WAD: working as designed.

I'm so so really sorry !!
You don't have use capital letters to make a point.

You are very Clear in your reply, Very Clear.

I'm just small client using jomsocial since the beginning and paying for support.

I'm sorry for pointing that something could be not perfect.

Please close this ticket . I don't believe I will need your help in this issue . I will find freelancer to help me.

One suggestion . Please change your attitude.

Thank you.

Hi, Creic.

As I said before, you're not the only one that complained about this.
www.jomsocial.com/forum/events/26362-gro...isplay-and-time-zone

I said exact the same thing: Support staff is not able to change anything in source code. Also don't make decisions what should be changed.

I agree that this is an issue and should be changed. But only user opinion has enough force to push developers to change something they designed. Your voice matters... but only if you start yelling in the right place. That's why I asked you to post in Community.

Hiring freelancer may solve this issue... but it will require CORE to hack. How then you'll upgrade ? Will you implement customizations after each upgrade? The only way is to convince developers that "something could be not perfect". As I'm already convinced...

There is no need to argue here, really.
