FFMPEG trouble : Have installed ffmpeg, it's located in /usr/bin/ffmpeg I can run it in the ssh shell and convert a video uploaded into jomsocial at the command line successfully BUT
Cron job simply comes up with "Could not convert video"...
Any ideas? Does anyone know the actual code sent from jomsocial that I could type direct into ssh to see if it completes successfully?

craigit was in my download when I bought JS a couple of days ago.. dunno if it was meant to be there or not but it is...10 years ago
Daniel SoaresAndrew, You can download the 3.1.2.6 version that is included with this file JS RC4.0 package10 years ago
Daniel Soarescraig, you put that way in the video settings? /usr/bin/ffmpeg10 years ago
craigUnder video settings I've put /usr/bin/ffmpeg for the Path to FFMPEG yes. But still coming up the same Everything else on the site seems to be ticking over nicely, video's seems to be the hard part.10 years ago
Michałcraig, downgrade to 3.2.1.6 if you want us to help you... JomSocial 4 is not supported yet.10 years ago
craigI'm patient.. I can wait and hopefully version 4 will be released and then I can ask all over again. I don't really see the point in downgrading to 3.2.1.6, getting the solution, and then upgrading it to 4 to apply (sorry, no offence intended, just doesn't make sense to do that)... Will keep an eye out for when it's released and, in the words of Arnold... " I'll be back "10 years ago
Daniel SoaresI installed it on my vps (centos.web panel with FFMPEG module) alternative to cPanel and JS4 and worked with Centos system 6-64.10 years ago
a Guestcraig i can confirm Jomsocial 4 is working fine with FFMPEG. Check out the PDF document in this forum post www.jomsocial.com/forum/photos-videos/15274-ffmpeg…. if your using shared host it is normally an old version which is not supported. Yhe lowest build i have ever had it working on is FFMPEG 1.2 less than this it won't work
craigit's our own server, there's some configuration with the installation of zpanel and ffmpeg, working on it hopefully will get it sorted going through the docs above...10 years ago
craigPersonal observation thou, video handling on jomsocial needs some work. Either in documentation, trouble shooting guides or a complete rethink into integrating these into the package rather than relying on 3rd party solutions to do the job. Never be afraid to take a complex operation, and simplify it for the end user so it's completely idiot proof. Then, even I might get it working 10 years ago
Daniel SoaresI tested the Zpanel, but found difficult to find where I could modify the php.ini and how would install FFmpeg.10 years ago
craigwent through the docs above and both ffmpeg and flvtool2 are showing installed versions, ffmpeg shows enable-libx264 so I've pretty much exhausted what's wrong... I'm guessing some php.ini setting or something somewhere but going to put it aside for a couple of days now. Have little enough hair left without tearing the last few strands out over this one 10 years ago
a GuestProbably best to open a support ticket and paste the output into the ticket so i can have a look at it for you. In particular the version output and the codecs that are compiled on the server. have you checked that extension = "ffmpeg.so" is in the servers php.ini file or if you have a local copy of it put it in there. I see a lot of the later versions that are installed but not compiled correcty10 years ago
craigI don't suppose anyone has published a step by step idiots guide for installation of this from a blank machine. That is step 1 will take you through installing centos 7, installing joomla, installing jomsocial, installing what ever software is needed on the server to make it all work? (A walk thru). If not, might blank the server and work with support to get it working on jomsocial 3.2 and then...I don't suppose anyone has published a step by step idiots guide for installation of this from a blank machine. craigProgress... video is now converting but I'm getting an endless circle when it goes to play it (I can't win!) will try in chrome see what happens...10 years ago
craighmmnn... plays in Chrome, but full screen stays same size.... (mac OSX Yosemite)10 years ago
WaltTry MAMP Pro, it's even better than OS X SERVER.app MAMP Pro also installs Joomla 3.4 right from within itself.10 years ago
craigNot using OSx Server for the jomsocial install, it's on CentOS, accessing websites on an Apple Mac running Yosemite. Safari doesn't play videos at all, Chrome does, but full screen doesn't scale the video at all. Good progress so far thou and I think I may still have 1 or 2 hairs left 10 years ago

craigProblem was with Sentora (zpanel split off) hosting panel configuration.. have learnt lots (always a bonus)...10 years ago
ThomasCraig; I use Sentora to. What was the problem?. 10 years ago
craigLove Sentora... seems, although I'm sure I double checked it that I hadn't removed the disable's in the /etc/sentora/configs/apache directory Which is where I thought the problem was since ffmpeg was running from the command line. Was using Zpanel prior to this, but since being taken over commercially support and progress for it died. Sentora however seems to have a very active community running 10 years ago
ThomasGood to know Yes, Sentora forum is active and have great support. 10 years ago
