Hi, Tom.
This wasn't my intention, not at all.
I'm here to help users like you... but please, believe me, in this case I can't do anything... and I'm really sorry that your hosting provider doesn't want to help you...
As you can see and read in articles I shared, issues like your are related with lack of rights to write in certain folder on server. This means that application that runs on server is not in proper group or folder settings (chmod) are wrong. This is not only limited to T3 framework plugin or to Socialize template but may also influence other applications that will try to create folders (or load files) to your main site folder.
So here is not your fault at all... but your hosting provider that set limiting configuration and refuse to help you. I don't want to be snarky but if I'll be on your place, I'll change hosting provider.
I did understand that, and I did also read the articles you made link to. Well I found one thing that I could do and that was to set the right chmod for the tmp folder which I did. But even in the configuration.php file I have to change this from public $log_path = '/var/www/html/logs'; to
public $tmp_path = '/var/www/html/tmp'; So as I understand it has to be the same on both lines as it says on the documentation I found. Well it was wrong anyway. That was if I had moved my server from one hosting provider to Another.
Hi, Tom.
I linked articles to show that this is chmod/chown issue. But it apply to other folder - to your main html folder. Not all applications can write folders there.
I have red your articles you linked and thank you for that. However, I don't Think I'll come any further Before the Tech on my hosting provider have been looking at this a bit closer on monday, Before I can do anything else at the moment. I have given them the information you gave me, to make it easier for them to investigate.
I was adviced by my hosting provider not to remove the template, so I did not do that.
Hi, Tom.
Ok, so I'll wait your update.
Hi Michael,
Albertus did Contact me and told me he should let Ashraf I Think it was to take a look over it, but I'm also at the moment in Contact with my hosting provider, so I cannot say much Before I get some answers from there.
Hi, Tom.
Ashraf (Template developer) is already assigned to this thread ;)
I did it long before.
Hi Michael,
Now I finally could open the controlpanel for Socialize template and explore it. My hosting provider found something wrong on my server, but did fix it. I'll show you here what he wrote back to me and the fix.
It was becuase of php-xml that should be for versionen 5.4 It was an older version of php-common who had php-xml package.
Well they did the following to resolve Everything and they asked me to tell that in here in case other people have the same problem and what they did below:
It was solved with the following command in Linux Centos: yum install php54w-xml.x86_64
I will apologize that I was so wrong, and hope you can forgive me that.
Hi, Tom.
No worries :) I'm happy that you managed to solve this issue.
Hi Michael,
Yes I did, even if it took some time to get it done. Well I have discovered the controlpanel for Socialize yesterday evening and now this morning to try understand how to make Everything in the right positions after watching the tutorials as Mevare introduced, but I seem to do things wrong. I cannot get ride of the menu on the left side since I only want it on top, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Wold you help a bit on this? I'm sure it's me that not understand.
