The menu items in the JomSocial menu were broken and showing a message "com_community component doesnt exist" so I opened each menu item and selected the appropriate menu item and saved each item. This seemed to "fix" the error message and rebuilt the link to the menu items back to the community component.
When I tried to 'fix' the "Profile" item, the "Edit My Page" item would appear instead of the Profile item ...
Thinking I could recreate the JomSocial toolbar without a problem, i deleted it ... and now I wish I hadn't ... and I cannot find the trashcan to restore it ...
Could you please log into my site and restore or recreate the JomSocial toolbar and reassign the proper functions to the proper menu items and fix the "Edit My Page" issue appearing when trying to assign "Profile" menu item?
Thank you so much!
Hi Gina,
Right now you installed version 3.2.1.6, please you do upgrade to latest version.
I already installed iJoomla installer on your Joomla, you can upgrade your jomsocial via ijoomla installer.
thank you
thank you for looking at my site but I will not be upgrading to JomSocial 4 until all the bugs are fixed for Joomla 3 and I can use my RocketTheme templates without bugs or errors.
In the meantime, please check and fix the issues I listed above.
i have 2 sites both running JomSocial 3.2.1.6 because I am using a RocketTheme template. One site is running Joomla 3.4.1 and the other site is running Joomla 2.5.28 because there is an application I'm using which is not a stable release for Joomla 3 yet.
I just looked at my Joomla 2.5 site and noticed the JomSocial menu items are also broken as they were in Joomla 3...
the "Menu Item Type" in the Menu Manager is showing "★ JomSocial" instead of the actual item type... also, each item type is assigned to "Edit My Page" and will not change ...
I do not want to upgrade to JomSocial 4 unless the bugs have been fixed when used with a RocketTheme template ...
How do I fix these menu items in both my Joomla 3 and 2.5 sites ?
Hi Gina,
Please you try to re-install version 3.2.1.6, so the Jomsocial toolbar menu will be re-installed as well.
Cheers
i've tried several different ways to fix this problem, all unsuccessful at the time of this post...
I tried reinstalling 3.2.1.6 on top of itself, to no avail.
I tried removing 3.2.1.6 and reinstalling, to no avail.
I tried upgrading to 4.0.5 which broke the layout (because of RocketTheme's 960px grid) and still did not restore the toolbar...
I have backed up the sql db and archived the entire dir contents so the next thing I need to try is deleting the entire sql db and com_community components and plugins, empty the cache and reinstall 3.2.1.6 as a new install and reconfigure (or update) the database...
Any suggestions other than what i've come up with ?
Hi Gina,
Would you mind provide me FTP and PhpMyadmin access? I will check this issue further.
thank you
