Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
You mean it's visible under "About me"?
I tested it on my site and tried to view profile with ordinary user - fields are not visible as set in backend.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
No I think it may be a "design issue" - it seems that for every field you create for a profile, it always get displayed by default with the "public" access (I have put in a request that we should be able to set the default rather than having the default as always public.)
The issue here is that for something that is set on the back end as being "Personal" only, although you are correct that it does not show up to anyone else if set that way, it is very confusing for a user to know what the privacy actually is. It would make good design and UI sense to have any variable that is set as Personal on the backend to then be set as "Private" on the front end and not allow the user to change it (since any other setting makes no sense.)
I do get the feeling that when it comes to "privacy" this is something that hasn't really been fully understood by the design team at JomSocial, despite the claims of how important you understand it to be!
You see, I as support staff don't have any influence how system will be designed. So every remarks or ideas to improve features should be directed to PO (Product Owner) or post as feature request:
There a little sense to post it on forum as I can't do anything about it - I'm sorry.
