I am using the "multiple profiles" feature and have created two profile types, however all existing users are currently showing as Default Profile rather than the one I created (there is no Default Profile on the system now.)
The only way I can see to fix this is have each user log in and change it manually which is a pain!
How can I change users accounts from the back end for all my users?
Hi, Andrew.
You can't do it en mass... this have to be done one by one by user or admin (in backend).
This seems quite a fundamental error, that having users already on my system before I installed JS they get set to some profile type that doesn't exists! I'm also not sure why it would show users as having "default profile" when there is no profile called that - what settings are the profiles actually using?
Hi, Andrew.
Lets say that you created 3 new profiles. So your existing user should be assigned to which one by default?
They will stay with "Default profile" till they choose profile that fits them.
"Default profile" contains ALL fields created and published in Customize Profile.
If you think that changes are needed in this feature, please, post a feature request here:

I guess I assumed it sort of obvious that in a system that allows you to create more than one profile type, it would also allow you to define which to use as default ;-)
Anyway thanks re the fact that they get all fields , but what about things like creating groups, uploading videos etc - what controls if they can or can't do that if they are on "default profile" rather than one of the ones that actually exist on my system?
Hi, Andrew.
Profile is bind to user ID and everything in JomSocial: activity, group membership, events participation or ownership, photos and videos ownership is based on user ID. So this will not cause any issues.
Of course if you set restrictions for new profiles like: Allow/Disallow Event Creation or Allow/Disallow Group Creation - Default profiles will bypass them.
So if I want to allow anyone at all to create, say, an event, I need to set that site wise. In my standard group for all users I set it that they can't create a group. I also create another group that can.
So the issue here is that users that were already on my joomla site before I installed JomSocial will have the "Default profile" and therfore will be able to create groups until they go and change the profile setting themselves. Do you see the problem!
Anyway I 'm guessing this is just a lack of design thought when the new multiple profile feature was introduced and there is no way around it for now other than to put in a feature request (which is really a design change suggestion!) :-(
