So, I still have two problems that I have found so far in the rock solid release but luckily, they aren't that terrible. I'd love to see tagging actually working so am hoping that will get fixed in another post but this one is that control characters are showing up in Mass Emails and have been for several versions now.
There's no
Apostrophes for example are showing up as shown above after message is sent.
Thanks.
Hi, Mike.
Could you tell me exact steps to replicate this issue?
I sent a test message via Mass Messaging and it's displaying fine in both title and content:

Just send something with apostrophes.
For example, this is the mass email I sent yesterday.

You see, those should be ' but instead, they show control chars. I don't understand why when you test, these things don't happen and yet I don't do anything special, I just use the functions and these things happen :)
Hi, Mike.
Please, make a dev site (a copy of your live site) so I could test it on your site.
Or, you allow me to sent Mass test email on your live site ;)
Much easier if you just send a test out instead :).
Just state

Hi, MIke.
You mean a test email from my site?
Here it is:

Darn, just happened again. Making me look pretty silly to users.
I sent the following as TEXT in mass email but this is what it looked like in the email I received.

Hi, Mike.
Ok, I just misunderstood as you provided us with "none" for both user name and password ^^.
So, please, edit your first post and enter correct credentials.
And maybe what text I could send..
I'll create account with my email so I could receive message too...
I thought I had put the credentials in there but I've updated now.
Just insert a URL and use some apostrophes and you'll see how the message turns out. The link is missing and the apostrophes are replaced with control codes as shown in previous message.
Please be SURE to mention 'this is just a test' as subject.
Hi, Mike.
I'm sorry for delay but you posted after my shift has ended... and it was weekend ;)
Ok, I tested your site. Here is result:
prntscr.com/44t63d
So yes, there is code... but because you use WYSIWYG editor but send emails as text. Please, note difference between printscreens in my previous post.
And here is result when I enabled html emails in JomSocial configuration (Configuration -> Site):
prntscr.com/44t6kg
So it wasn't a bug bus misconfiguration :)
Very happy to hear it wasn't a bug.
However, I don't quite understand what you are telling me.
If set to text, then I can enter text as I have been.
If set to html, what am I supposed to enter? Does this mean I need to create my message using an html editor, then paste into message box, then send?
Hi, Mike.
Ok, so lets me explain :) To create a message you already use WYSIWYG editor so message is already a html code. But when this code was sent as text all html tags ware dropped but apostrophes ware converted into html entity. Now message is created as HTML and sent as html so nothing is stripped out.
If you want to send messages as text you need to disable WYSIWYG editor.
But now you don't have do that as issue is solved... ;)
