I have provided your email address to MP and asked him to contact you, but this will ultimately be his decision.
In the meantime, could I get a reply about a workaround, maybe when new users login we could force a permissions confirmation?

It seems that you use outdated version of Membership Pro (about 1 year old).
So that may cause your issue. The problem is that we can't provide workaround for issue caused by outdated extension...
Options are:
- upgrade extension
- change extension if it caused issues now and in the past
- manually fix by login as user and save (that fix permission issues)
- do a slight customization to hide profile for non friends (please, contact me via chat for details) ;)

Upgraded to Membership Pro 2.11.0 which is recent btw
Tried to create user in Joomla juser
Tried to access this user's profile without logging in.
The profile is STILL visable
So, which is it, outdated version of MP or some other problem?
Because at this point, it doesn't seem the version of MP that I have got installed now is so out of date, maybe a few weeks, but that is all
Maybe you guys need to take another look
Did you get a response from MP?
I would like a fix that is expected to work with both extensions installed to respect privacy in jomsocial please.
The way I see it is
1. Membership pro is not fully compatible
2. Jomsocial has privacy issue that they don't fully understand how to fix yet
I don't mind which one it is, but what I do mind is the "play one against the other" scenario
Kindly resolve this privacy issue and provide working Jomsocial to accommodate my company needs of privacy before I start receiving complaints

so, while we are waiting for a reply and a solution from MP to fix permissions issue, there is a side issue related to same issue of registration, even with "Require admin approval" set to yes, in jomsocial users are automatically activated, admin receives an email to activate the account, but it means nothing because accounts are already activated, please help

MP developers contacted us and I've sent them free copy of JS so they could update their component.
From that time they didn't contacted us anymore.
So I don't know what is status of this...
Please, contact them again on their forum as from our side we're ready and we already provided latest version of our component.

Would you kindly send a follow up email to them to ask them please, it was agreed that you "developers" would find a solution
If I am left as piggy in the middle I will be acting as secretary for Jomsocial and MP, we could discuss my prices if you like. :-)
I would suggest that you send them an email so as you can understand the fix and then update me please.
As agreed previously.
By the way, MP has more money then me, why didn't I get a free copy of Jomsocial? ::P:

BTW - sharing a free copy of extension is a practice among Joomla! developers. If other developers develop extension that integrates with other extension, it's a good practice to share a free copy. As far I recall you're a language teacher not a Joomla! developer :P

And I recall that you owe us a translation favor ;P

I am sorry, we have few days off for holiday and haven't worked on the fix yet. I will update the customer and give them the patch soon. Hopefully it won't take us too much time (less than 2 days)

Just got an update from MP
They have sent a plugin that seems to resolve this issue for newly registered users
But all existing users must edit privacy settings

Yes, because those users ware create by SQL injection - not using JomSocial API.
So the only way to fix it will be manual save - just like we did before.
