Updating without a licence?

Our company took over the management of a Joomla site from a developer that is no longer contactable. We're having a problem with JomSocial that is outlined here: www.jomsocial.com/forum/profile-universa...licking-edit-profile , but that solution doesn't work for us. My feeling is that we need to update JomSocial to the latest version (we're running 4.2.5 right now), but as we didn't purchase the product originally, we can't just get hold of an update easily.

What's the best course of action? Also, do you think updating will solve the problem described above?

Yes, upgrading JomSocial to 4.5 will solve the issue :)
Probably developer purchased the license on his own account and didn't passed it to the principal.
That's happens very often - a bad practice :/
In this case - please, provide me your site domain name, I'll check if license is active or not.


- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
