I have an existing older JomSocial 3.2.1.6 installation running on Joomla 3.3.6 and I would like to upgrade to the latest Joomla 3.8.2 and the latest JomSocial 4.5.
Please advise as to the proper sequence and procedures for this specific upgrade path.
Would the TouchM template continue to work, or should I also plan to upgrade the template to the latest Socialize?

HI, Jeff.

Thank you for contacting us.
Please, read this topic: www.jomsocial.com/forum/pre-sales-questi...-site-upgrade#182008
As for your template - I'm not sure as this is not our product. Give it a try and if it won't work - look for alternatives.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

When upgrading Joomla from 3.3.6 to 3.8.2, do I need to remove all my installed extensions first or is it one of those first upgrade to version X, then upgrade that to version Y?

Then are there similar incremental steps to upgrade from JomSocial 3.2.1.6 to JomSocial 4.5? I have been burned before on missed incremental upgrades that made database structural changes. That is why I am seeking your sound advice.

HI, Jeff.

First you need to upgrade your extensions to latest versions - don't need to uninstall anything unless certain extension is meant to work ONLY under Joomla! 3.3.6.

Follow steps I provided in linked topic :) This will work, don't worry. Just remember to make a safe copy.

I have seen some other posts about Joomla 3.8.2 and JomSocial 4.5 problems. Is there a problem? Fix coming soon?

There were recent forum posts. I don't have time to look them up. But it sounds like all is well, so it might have been some other extension that was getting their way.

HI, Jeff.

If any issues ware reported they ware rather site specific issues - no general issues with J! 3.8.2 and JS 4.5 ware reported.
