I'm currently running JomSocial version 3.2.1.5 and just reviewed the changelog for v 3.2.1.6 which contains a number of bug fixes for difunctional items, namely for privacy related settings that are not respected or correct in v 3.2.1.5

Two Questions:
1. Do you provide patches to members whose current subscriptions are expired? Mainly patches for bug fixes or in this case, security related corrections?

2. If answer to number 1 is "No" and users need to re-subscribe (pay again) for membership.... do you provide patches to said users current version or only offer the latest version for download?

if you are an active subscriber you have access to version 3.2.1.6 from our old downloads area but please remember that we no longer provide bug fixes or patches for anything other than Jomsocial 4

if there is a serious security issue that may compromise a site then of course we would provide that fix to everyone

Great, glad to hear that Paul, thank you. I would very much appreciate having access to that 3.2.1.6 patch, considering our JomSocial community is a closed (non-public) access site containing all of our companies intellectual (proprietary) property. If you review the change-log list from 3.2.1.5 to 3.2.1.6 you'll see there are at least 3 "Bug Fixes" relating to privacy settings not being respected. None of the content on our site is Public or for public consumption.

My fear and concern are related to the security of our site since elements are, in fact, publically accessible due to the fact JomSocial has programming errors not respecting user access levels, aka Public, Site-Members, Friends, Only Me.

Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter, I look forward to your response... hopefully it contains a download link for the patch.

Paul, thank you so much for your email. Unfortunately our network is behind some strict security policies and the PHP file was removed. Can you possibly archive somehow (zip?) and resend, or if needed, I can provide you FTP credentials by replying to your email...you could upload it for me to download / remove.

I understand about no longer supporting an old version... I will eventually move up to the new 4 release once it becomes stable. I have so many 3rd party components synchronized with JomSocial and code customizations...when I upgrade, it breaks everything! I've spent months (by myself) debugging, tweaking, and configuring this version that I cannot afford to lose all that work and time.

Again, I sincerely appreciate the updated patch, it will resolve several outstanding issues my client is concerned with regarding privacy and security within Jomsocial.

Dear JomSocial,

We have worked for months on a community site redesign tweaking, de-bugging, making sure the code was solid prior to launch. When we discovered the Privacy related bugs in version 3.2.1.5 we were thrilled these items were outlined as resolved in the change log of version 3.2.1.6.

When we applied JomSocial v3.2.1.6 to fix those privacy bugs, we discovered roughly 8 new bugs in areas previously functional (see list below), mainly relating to Event dates, Groups, and Profiles. After many discussions with JomSocial on how to fix our problems, you're every suggestion was to "Update to the latest version".

Soooo, we have updated to the latest version, which yes...fixed those bugs introduced (on our bug-free reDesign) in the final build of version 3.... and now we are faced with a whole slew of new issues in v4.07, namely relating to layout and integration with our "jomsocial friendly" theme.

so long story short... I need to know if JomSocial will have a solution for us...and when...

A. Fix the poorly written code in v3.2.1.6 for the below items (only 3 items from long list) or
B. Release an update to v4 that functions (as promised by both sides) with the Gavick University theme.


List of Known Bugs in JomSocial version 3.2.1.6

- There are no CANCLE or SAVE buttons upon uploading a cover photo.

- When joining a GROUP there is no response onscreen to inform user something happened

- When creating a new EVENT from main events page, cannot choose day other than “todays date”. If creating an EVENT from the STATUS box, users can choose date but once event is created, the date cannot be modified. Essentially the calendar does not pop-up when user clicks date. Basically cannot edit date of Event

- Activity Stream doesn't contain banner images from Groups or Events

We are not releasing anymore bug fixes for Jomsocial 3.2.1 6. The last release for the 3.2 series was Monday, 02 February as per this blog post. www.jomsocial.com/blog/3216

In regards to Jomsocial 4 working with the Gavick theme University. We have had conformation from Gavick a month ago that they have updated their theme to work with Jomsocial 4. They have told me it is fully compatible, If you are having issues with that theme you will need to raise a support ticket with Them.

If you find any bugs in the current version of Jomsocial 4 please create a new support ticket (one issue per ticket) in the support forum and our support staff will assist you.
