ISSUE SUMMARY:
Uploaded videos do not appear. While a video is pending, I get the following when I get the error: "FFmpeg could not convert videos" when I run the cron directly.
I have asked my host to investigate, they have come back to me to ask for the full cron command that gets passed, and also if you could look into it to check for possible faults with the install or the site in general.

Hi, Gavin.
Please, read here about cron job:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Setting_Up_Cron_Job
But issue is rather related with FFMPEG library.
Please, ask your hosting provider what version of FFMPEG is installed on their server.
Also if issue apply to other domain than supported - please post a domain change request. We could support only one domain/site.
Hi there,
I've sent them a ticket, in the meantime I have this comment from them:
After looking over the situation.
Jomsocial is a 3rd party addon, which we don't provide support for. It
will be best to talk to the author of the mod, or try for help on the
joomla forums.
On another note
If you can get us info on the exact ffmpeg command being run by that
cron, we can look into it
Thanks!

Hi, Gavin.
Your server uses an ancient version of FFMPEG.
Latest version is 3.0.2.
This is common issue. Please, ask your hosting provider to upgrade it to latest version.
Video conversion won't work with it.
As for corn commend, please, read this:

Hi there, thanks for the info.
I've passed that onto them and they are investigating, but rather than how to set up cron, they want the technical details of what the cron job actually does. The exact commands and switches that are passed to the ffmpeg program, they cant ascertain what these are from the cron command...
Thanks =)
Hi, Gavin.
Your issue apply to FFMPEG version. It has nothing to do with cron command :)
They should rather upgrade FFMPEG and not waste time to investigate our scripts.
It's funny that first they said that they won't support any 3rd party and now want to investigate it :)
Yes, Zencoder + Amason S3 this is video encoding and sending videos straight to external storage (converted files are not stored on your server).
Hi there,
They want to investigate the command being passed to the ffmpeg encoder, they said although its installed on the server, it might not be properly configured. They are willing to investigate it but they need to know the exact commands.
What will happen if I close my s3? I assume jomsocial can download data to website storage to enable the s3 account to be closed? How would I do that?
Hi, Gavin.
Cron jb just executes a series of scripts.
Here is code for conversion:
ROOT/components/com_community/libraries/videos.php
You may easily move files from/to S3 by configuring JS. Please, check this documentation:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Setting_up_Amazon_S3
Thanks for the code. Can I send that file to my host for investigation? I don't wanna break copyright :)
I did see the amazon doc but it looks outdated (although im sure its similar) however I don't see instructions on what to do if you wanted to close your amazon and have the files stored locally instead? I might be blind!
Thanks for all you help so far, you've been awesome and patient =)
Hi, Gavin.
Yes, you may send that file or just send location of file to your hosting provider.
Video is a bit outdated but it show how to restore files from remote to localhost:
youtu.be/QnsrK0qrqmM?t=5m19s
This is excellent so far. I've set up S3 and can move the files too and from the server!
I have also set up zencoder and copied the policy to amazon s3 and have put the api key into jomsocial..
When videos get uploaded they seem to vanish for a while.
I get two windows in zencoder, the second one give the error: {"errors":["Output media files url has an invalid protocol","Output media files thumbnail base url has an invalid protocol"]}
The first window give the errors below... ive blanked out the sensitive info...
{"input":"http:\/\/*****.net\/images\/originalvideos\/2648\/KCVO3oOiCLh.mp4","output":[{"base_url":"s3.:\/\/***************\/images\/videos\/2648","filename":"XOcJnlTLpEg.mp4","notifications":[{"format":"xml","url":"http:\/\/***********.net\/index.php\/videos\/zencodercallback?videoid=121&videoname=KCVO3oOiCLh.mp4"}],"width":640,"height":480,"thumbnails":{"number":1,"size":"320x180","base_url":"s3.:\/\/**************e\/images\/videos\/2648\/thumbs\/","public":1,"prefix":"XOcJnlTLpEg"},"public":1}],"api_key":"*******************"}
HI, Gavin.
I assign developer to take a look.
