ISSUE SUMMARY:
My users need to be able to upload their own videos (in addition to linking to YouTube etc. So I have today installed ffmpeg by following a number of tutorials out there. None of the first attempts worked, the i used the ffmpeg autoinstaller and that finished the process. However videos are still not moving from pending.

I found this thread which seems to be a similar issue to mine: www.jomsocial.com/forum/photos-videos/22...fe-hates-me?start=28

So I followed Paul's instructions to check what had been installed:

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 In SSH I ran whereis ffmpeg which produces:

/usr/src/ffmpegscript/ffmpeg /usr/bin/ffmpeg /usr/local/bin/ffmpeg /usr/share/ffmpeg /usr/share/man/man1/ffmpeg.1.gz

3 I ran version ffmpeg produces:

ffmpeg version N-72663-gc93602a-syslint Copyright (c) 2000-2015 the FFmpeg developers
built with gcc 4.4.7 (GCC) 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-11)
configuration: --prefix=/usr/local/cpffmpeg --enable-shared --enable-nonfree --enable-gpl --enable-pthreads --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-decoder=liba52 --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libfaac --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --extra-cflags=-I/usr/local/cpffmpeg/include/ --extra-ldflags=-L/usr/local/cpffmpeg/lib --enable-version3 --extra-version=syslint
libavutil 54. 26.101 / 54. 26.101
libavcodec 56. 41.101 / 56. 41.101
libavformat 56. 34.100 / 56. 34.100
libavdevice 56. 4.100 / 56. 4.100
libavfilter 5. 16.101 / 5. 16.101
libswscale 3. 1.101 / 3. 1.101
libswresample 1. 2.100 / 1. 2.100
libpostproc 53. 3.100 / 53. 3.100

4 I add the file paths as per Joomla documentation to the Videos configuration
I upload a new video and receive a message saying I will be notified when its converted

RESULT
Video remains in pending and no notification received after a couple of hours

EXPECTED RESULT
Notification and video moved to the live videos section

BROWSER
Chrome, IE,

How do I get this to work? Did Paul ever produce the simple guide he talked of?

Kind regards

Mel

Hi, Melanie.

Your FFMPEG library and settings are fine. I just successfully uploaded and converted avi file in your community;
prntscr.com/7dfzyq
wessexlifescience.co.uk/frontpage/240-jo...videos/video/14-test

So all you need now it to set up a cron job that will fire video conversions:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Setting_Up_Cron_Job

Or you may run it manually:

Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Monitor -> Mail queue -> Execute cron (button upper right).

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi Michael,

thank you!

It seems to work when I click on the cron job. One question, I already had a cron job for Jomsocial running, is it right that I should have 2?

I have this one which was already installed that runs every 15 minutes:

/usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null " www.mysite.co.uk/index.php?option=com_community&task=cron " > /dev/null 2>&1

and this one that I created today that runs every 5 minutes:

wget -O /dev/null " www.mysite.co.uk/index.php?option=com_community&task=cron " > /dev/null

Are they doing different things, or do I only need one? I think the first one I set up when I followed the instructions for setting up Jomsocial initially.

If I do only need one, which should it be?

Hi, Melanie.

You need only one cron job. You need to ask your hosting support which one is correct and will work on your server as they differs a bit:

/usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null
wget -O /dev/null

URL is correct so only the first port need to be checked.
