Uploaded mp4 video. sits in pending forever. deleted video from pending, suddenly the video shows up in the activity stream, no thumbnail attached.
I don't know what more to write here. I've spent two weeks trying to make this work without any resolution.
and I never get a notification that the video is done processing. it just does nothing. One time I did see a thing that says, "fetch thumbnail" so I clicked it and suddenly there was a thumbnail on the video. that only happened one time.
I don't know if ffmpeg is installed correctly or even how to find out and I dont know how to know if it's the correct version. I am told that it is.
we had dependancy issues earlier but I was told all have been fixed. thats' all I know.
Hi Geof,
Lets get this sorted out for you, i cannot fix the baldness issue but hopefully fixing the FFMPEG issue with result in happy wife, happy life/server.
The first thing we need to do is check that FFMPEG is installed correctly on your server. in this reply is a link to a post i wrote about setting up and checking FFMPEG, while it refers to Centos it is current for all the other flavours of linux as well. Have a read of this and see what you get. If you still come up blank then I would need SSH access into your VPS to look at what is wrong.
Here is a very short summary of what to check
at the SSH terminal type
whereis ffmpeg
This will give you the path for Jomsocial to use
ffmpeg -version
Must be above 1.2
The first command will give you the path to FFMPEG. This path needs to be placed in the video settings in Jomsocial admin
The second is the version. I have had FFMPEG working on a build as low as 1.2 but if it is less than this then that is the problem.
www.jomsocial.com/forum/photos-videos/15...on-centos-6x-servers
At this link there is a PDF document attached, have a read of that and let me know how you get on
Geof,
I forgot to mention that your admin credentials are not working so i was unable to login and check things can you please update these
Hi Geof
You can press edit on your first post anf update them or email the info to paul AT ijoomla DOT com either way is ok and i will take a look
Hi Geof,
I just looked at your site and I would now need SSH access or the results of the test you run as per that pdf document in the thread i refer to.
The main things i need to see is
whereis ffmpeg
and
ffmpeg -version
if you are providing ssh details please edit your first post and add them into the misc field
Hi Geof
The FFMPEG version is: FFmpeg version 0.6.5 This is way to old and is the reason it is not working. The current version is 2. x, while it doesn't need to be the latest i have not been able to get video conversion working on any version of FFMPEG less than 1.2 PPA
You need to get your server administrator to upgrade it and compile the correct codecs as per the PDF document then it should work fine
Hi Geof,
The version is the problem, what is the VPS centos? ubuntu? do you have server management as part of the server package?
unfortunately even for advanced users FFMPEG can be tricky to get right on a server
