Integrating Jomsocial, Kunena and a new template

JomSocial Expired

With the standard set-up there are quite some issues to get jomsocial to work seamlessly with Kunena as apart for the integration plugin with limited options there is not much else out there.
So I decided to buy a template which has the ability to make this work and includes templates for both Kunena and Jomsocial.
Now my question is...

Would it be easier to first install the quickstart of the template and then import the database tables and all other content to it?
(if so do I need to install the sample data in the install?)

OR

Would it be best to apply the template and its extensions on the current version of my website where I have both Kunena and Jomsocial PRO installed?

Any tips, tricks and advice would be very welcome here.
Feel free to login to see what would be the better solution in my case.

The template I bought is this one:

Hi.

Well, you won't find any other plugin that handles Kunena-JomSocial integration except the one currently offered by Kunena and JomSocial (here we rather display some things from Kunena that do real integration). Few years ago Kunena discontinued JomSocial integration plugin.

Few days ago, other user asked similar question: www.jomsocial.com/forum/modules-plugins-...omsocial-integration

So this won't be handled by any template... quickstart or not :)

I'm not a fan of quickstarts as developers sometime lock their extensions in Joomla! so you can't remove or disable them. Then if you want to change template and disable supporting plugins... you won't be able.

Regarding transferring user data, read my answer here: www.jomsocial.com/forum/installation/315...?limitstart=0#152946

That user wanted to move data from old version, but case is similar. moving data is always tricky.

So IMHO the best option is to do a copy, clear it and start over but with old community data.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
