Hi, Justin.
Seems like cookie issue. Ask your users to clear their browser cache and remove cookies from browser.
Popup login can't be disabled.
well according to you 15 momths ago, it can be:
www.jomsocial.com/forum/technical-issues...he-modal-login-popup
Would really like to disable it instead of telling 21 000 users to remove browser cookies.
I wil be adding this to a feature request as well.
Hi, Justin.
Yes, that was a bug in one of previous version... from more than a year from now. Do you use that old version? No, you use JomSocial 4.0.9. So it's like claiming that there is a bug in Windows 8 because there was a fix for Windows XP... different versions - different stories.
You can't replicate that issue, me neither... so it's not that 21 000 user have it.
My point is that a lot of members have been complaining, and each tiem we ask how they tried to log in they mention the popup.
I don't think that asking for a way to disable the popup is too outrageous.
I understand that if I edit a core file I will have to redo the changes after updating Jomsocial.
I'd just like to know where the code can be found for the popup so that I may disable/comment out or however else it can be accomplished.
Hi, Justin.
I see your point.... Pop up login appears in cases when user:
- tries to perform action for members only
- stays on JS pages without any action and lifetime session expires
So also check if Joomla! Lifetime Session is not to short - I recommend to set it to 60 minutes.
Please, read this:

www.jomsocial.com/forum/technical-issues...r-jomsocial-4#126973
my lifetime session is already 60 minutes.
if you delete all your browser cookies and go to the jomsocial homepage on my site, the popup login shows.
according to your crtiteria there should not be a popup in this scenario.
Tested on desktop and mobile.
Hi, Justin.
I already linked threads that may interest you.
Pop up login issue is rather complex and may be caused by few factors like cookies, lifetime session, , site misconfiguration and 3rd party or browser issues.
Please, read thread I linked.
Hi, Justin.
