libx264 is mandatory, that needed for convert any videos file to MP4. if later your server already provide it. please try to convert videos again.

please try to re-install it again. and don't put under root folder. Jomsocial got permission denied error message.
please but it under /usr/bin/ or /usr/local/bin/.
