I suggest you to backup your site first, you can do it from your hosting cpanel. after backup you can upgrade your jomsocial.
many fixes at our latest version.

I'm not sure about what caused it. Because your Jomsocial still using old version, we have a lot code improvement with our latest version.
It more savings of times than I debugging your site (need more than a days).

Sometime your site having this error "Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL."
please try this solution:

I edited your posts, and put all credential information into Site Info - Misc Information.
FYI, all credential information must put at Site Info. because this is private information.
