Blank Page when Changing Group Admin in JS Backend

Hi There

I have similar issue to that mentioned in a previous post, where I get a blank page when changing the group admin in JS backend

The front end solution suggested works, however, the back end solution should work also.

So would appreciate some help with this.

Hi Template,

I have been inspected your backend and your files.. but until now i can't figure out how to solve your problem.. i'm afraid this is because kunena pluigns because as far as i saw, your jomsocial and kunena have relation.. Give me some time to check again about this issue, if i can't i will raise this issue to our developer..

Could you try now? I commented in ROOT/administrator/components/com_community/controllers/groups.php lines from 426 to 435 and now it seems to work...

Please confirm.


- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi Michal

Yes that works.... but do not understand what the section that you commented is for,
and what are the consequences of you commented out that code?

And, does that means that I have to repeat this process (commenting) every time that Jomsocial gets updated/upgraded?

Hi, Template.

Don't worry :) it will not influence JomSocial performance. I just check if user already has admin rights in that group.
If at next upgrade you'll experience the same issue - first report it to us.

Thanks for your help and assistance Michal.

Also wanted to point out that the 'quick reply' button in the forum thread never works for me, when I hit submit. The editing window closes but the messages is never shown in thread. Just thought I'd mention it.
