Does anyone know how I can change my registation page requirements to make it harder to register on my site. I would also like to have it so I would have to verify and review their registration form application before I let them join of have access to my site?

You can use the joomla setting to need to validate the registration by email confirmation... bit wobbly in Jomsocial but in general it works
