Hi, I am experiencing a strange issue when editing .ini language files for Jomsocial. I download the files via FTP, edit the strings with TextEdit (Mac OS X) in plain text mode and upload them as .txt to the language folder. Then I change the original file's extension to .tmp .old or whatever and rename the edited version to .ini. After that Jomsocial uses the placeholder strings instead of language. I supposed it is a coding issue and tried several coding standards (UTF8, Western Latin etc.) but nothing works. This issue does not appear when I use the same workflow with Joomla core language files.
I'm not sure why you're experencing those problems, but for instance I'm using KED software to edit ini files, and I never encountered such issue. So I suggest to revert your language file to the original one, and then try using KED.
