I have spent many hours translate JomSocial to Danish and it worked just fine in the beginning but now almost everything back to English. I made a few rewrites, but now I can't search for language constants anymore.
I also tried with "freestyle joomla" but without success.
The INI files are still there.

I suggest you dont need translate Danish by your self, because the transifex team already provide it and you can download it from here www.transifex.com/projects/p/jomsocial/language/da_DK/ another translation can be found here www.transifex.com/projects/p/jomsocial/

your strings are error at these lines 946, 2523, 2524, 2525, 2526, 2527

well, actually I want fix this by myself, but I have problem to connect to your FTP :

I discovered that there was a problem with æ, ø, å, but I have tried that before, and knew I just had to replace the "ø" with "Ø" but now I'm back to square one, everything is in English again

Hi Dan,

I will give you trick for fixing this, so you can solve this similiar issue with yourself.

1. Go to Joomla configuration->system->debug language->yes
2. Go to Jomsocial home page, you will get some debug code there on the bottom, look them one by one

In my current debug, i found some issue in your jomsocial translation, here is what I get :
