Hello,
I recently updated to JomSocial 4.4.2, and want to upgrade to JS Shadow template. My developer said that I have a lot of customizations that will be lost if I do this myself, and that I need him to do a special installation to preserve my customizations.
-PLEASE BE DETAILED IN YOUR RESPONSE-
1) Is this true?
2) I’m not a developer. Can do this special installation myself?
3) What is a customization?
I added a menu that have 17 content pages. I also had a Social Following feature made, and a personalized email invite. Will these be lost?
I have many plugin/extensions – JCE editor, RS Memberships, RS Directory, EasyBlog, JS Member Search, etc. I had my developer to change the word on the profile tab from “Profile” to “Fitness Profile.” Will all of these be lost?
1, Yes this is try
2. if the modification is coming from template you can do override
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Customizing_Template
, but if its coming from not-templates files it will be tricky you need contact again the developer for this.
3. That is custom changes, the core jomsocial code already changed, depend your site needs
The 3rd party extenstions will be fine, dont worry with it.
