At the top of every page, I have a blue banner with my logo going across it. I already have to JomSocial toolbar at the top with the logo and login fields. How can I remove that banner so that it looks like your demo site? Probably a stupid question, but I've looked everywhere and can't find it.

You should change the socialie layout, go to socialize configuration, Layout->change "Position & Responsive Configuration" to Social.
