ISSUE SUMMARY: The main menu disappears from view on medium sized screens (when the Socailize toolbar expands over two lines) when users are logged in. It becomes visible when the page is dragged down but the menu items are not active. On extra small screens the menu is replaced by an icon (which is fine) and on small screens the main menu spreads over two lines and whilst the upper line is only partially visible it remains active.
Is this a bug or me screwing up the configuration?
STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Log in to site.
2. Display page on large screen - menu displayed
3. Reduce width of screen to medium - menu disappears
4. Reduce screen width to small - menu reappears (spread over two lines)
5. Reduce screen width to extra small - meny replaced by icon.
6. Return to medium width, drag screen down (I can do this on an ipad but not on my standard monitor) - menu is visible but not active.
RESULT: Difficult for ipad (and other medium screen users) to navigate
EXPECTED RESULT: I'd settle for the Socialize search option box to be lost so that the toolbar only needs one line.
BROWSER; safari, chrome, firefox
Hi, Jon.
This is caused by your customization - you removed template header.
Please, roll back your changes and check if issue persist.
The problem does not occur when the template header is there but I would have expected the change to the tempate header to have the same effect on each of the responsive layouts. I want to remove the header on a lot of the screens displayed to reduce space required and reduce the amount of screen scrolling required. Is there anyway to reduce the depth of the template header using thememagic or anything else.
To me, the fact that the effect is different in the different responsive layouts suggests there should be a way to overcome it as the template is fine in the other responsive layouts. If it can't be done then I'll try to find another way of achieving the design aim but any suggestions as to how to achieve consistency would be welcome.
Is it possible to reduce the size of the search box (or even remove the search box altogether) from the Socialize toolbar?
Many thanks, as ever, for the help
Hi, Jon.
Yes, you're right. You've set "social" layout to get rid of header.
Your issue is caused by your logo/image in toolbar. it's too wide and pushes other toolbar content (avatar, username, cog icon and turn off icon) into second line below... that covers the menu.
When I changed size of image in toolbar and toolbar appear in one line, menu is visible:
prntscr.com/70sfiu
So please, consider to change image in toolbar as it's too wide and in screens like 1024px it will cause this issue.
Michael, yep that fixed it. I've reduced the logo to 200 pixels and its now working as expected.
It's a shame as I really liked the bigger logo and was hoping to just reduce the size of the search box in the toolbar - perhaps one to consider as an option on a future release.
Thanks for sorting that.
