JomSocial Expired Socialize Expired

Im currently setting up an intranet site for internal use only.

We have bought socialize and jomsocial and I cannot recreate like in the demo both menus (joomla and jomsocial)

Can anyone point me to any step by step documents telling us how to do this?

Hi, Dirty.

When you install JomSocial a new menu type is created - jomsocial and called JomSocial toolbar. Don't touch it as it is used for internal communication. It's not visible when using Socialize template.

Then create an ordinary Joomla! menu but if you want to point to jomSocial pages and in JomSocial toolbar are menu items pointing to that page already - use menu aliases instead duplicating menu items. Thanks to that you avoid menu/linking issues.

Do you mean JomSocial demo or Socialize?
Could you provide me with printscreen and mark parts that you are interested in?

Here is more about toolbar: documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Toolbar_Explained but like I said: it is not visible under Socialize template.

Please, note that if you setting up JomSocial on localhost (or intranet) and don't can't provide access to it, we could offer only limited support as we need to have access to pages with issues. We can't debug what we can't see this we can't fix it...

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi, Dirty.

1st one is regular menu in Joomla. You need to create menu in Joomla! Menus and assign it to a module then display module in certain position. This is a very basic of Joomla!

Please read Joomla! dicumentation for it: docs.joomla.org/Adding_a_new_menu

2nd is JomSocial toolbar used for internal communication. By default it is disabled within Socialzie template to avoid conflicts and simplify navigation (but JomSocial toolbar NEED to be present in Joomla! menus to provide proper internal communication). If you insist to display it simply:

Browse via FTP to ROOT/templates/socialize/html/com_community and remove (or change extension name) of toolbar.index.php. Toolbar should appear on your page after login in frontend.

I know how to make menus in joomla I've been using it for enough years. What you still have failed to tell me is how to recreate the demo. Do you not have any documentation on this process?

I have created a menu and a it looks nothing like that and b I cannot get it in the same location (joomla menu)

And secondly why would you not have the menu for jomsocial how do ou expect people to view and goto profile groups and so on.

Can you just send me documentation on how to get these two menus to display exactly like the demo. I'm not asking for any tech support on a broken site I'm just asking for documentation on how to generate the demo site on my own domain.

Hi Dirty,

I have recorded a quick video to explain the setup and show how to gt your site the same as socialize demo.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKavdk56yb4

FYI the site to look at is socialize.jomsocial.com for the template
and demo.jomsaocial.com to see jomsocial running on a standard template

Have a great day

Than you Paul. I think I got a bit mixed up with the demos at one point but that does explain the missing menu I require.

I will follow the video tomorrow when I get back I to work.

Many thanks once again for creating that video, it was really appreciated.

Paul
