viewing photos or photo gives users whitescreen

Hello,

first: I cannot post a topic in the photo&video support forum. dont know why, cause my subscription to Jomsocial is still valid, but cause I dont have the option to add it to that subforum, I post it here, cause here I am able to post. In the other subboards I dont see an 'new topic' button underneath. Only in the socialize template board.

The problem:
Suddenly, the photo are not visible anymore when clicking on them. Trying to upload pictures gives white screen too.

I have this problem on both my sites which run Jomsocial. (on differt hosting providers by the way)

1. Site one
Site one started to have this problem last week. Suddenly users mentioned white screens when trying to view pictures. I could reproduce this problem very easy. Every user had this problem. This site is however running jomsocial 2.6.x branch latest version with joomla 2.5.x (latest version). So I thought, lets first update this site to latest Jomsocial version and Joomla 3.2.2. I am doing this today, so cannot give login info. Next to this, I think this wil solve the problem, cause I tested this update and the problem was not there anymore. Als will change template with this update to socialize latest version.

2. Site two
However, today, also my other site started to have this same problem. Out of the blue pictures are not visible anymore. Gives You whitescreens.
Strange thing however is, that this site IS running Jomsocial 3.1.0.4 with Joomla 3.2.2 (Joomla was updated 2 days ago from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2, cause of a hacker trying to get acces to my ftp). Both jomsocial & joomla are latest versions so to say.


The only thing both sites have in common is that they both use rockettheme templates. I saw one person on this forum with the same problem, and for him it was fixed after upgrading Jomsocial to latest version, but cause this 'site two' is already running latest version since the release of it, that cannot fix it on that site.....

Today I dont have time to look into this problem. Am updating the first site so to say and that will cost me the complete day (total migration also of joomla). However, if someone knows how to fix this problem of suddenly no pictures visible anymore, I would be thankfull!

Only thing I did try was to clean server cache, browser cache and checked if there was other software that needed to be updated, but everything is running latest version. Those simpel steps did NOT fix the problem.

ohh...could not resist and was waiting for a backup to complete:
the template is not the problem I believe. I tried to use the default joomla template, and the same problem with pictures still is there :-(

p.s. I do see the 'new topic' button now underneath the others boards. strange, it wasn't there before. However, I am not able to move this topic myself to there...

Hi, eelco.

In most cases upgrade to current JomSocial version fix that issue.
As we don't have access to you web sites... you could try to change template to default one and check if issue still persist.
Also try to disable plugins one by one except Authentication - Joomla; Azrul System Mambot For Joomla; User - Joomla!

If everything fails, please add working credentials to your websites and we'll investigate the problem.


- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

I updates the other site (2) too to the latest. Works fine now. Do have some other problems with the socialize template, but if I dont find a sollution for those, I will let You guys know. First looking into it myself.

The problem of this topic is fixed by updating to latest branche.
