Not routing correctly

I currently have Joomla 3.6.5 installed with Jomsocial 3.

I have my home page as an activity filter and set on a custom template that is NOT the default temple.
When I click to view users I am not loading my default template, instead it is loading a broken version of my home page. How I understand Joomla to work is.. that any other menu item should be inheriting the default template parameters. It seems as though the users pages populated by JomSocial are not inheriting the default template, and instead grabbing off my home page. Which also makes me wonder, even if it's grabbing the home page template, why is it loading a broken version?

At first I thought it was my template, and then I thought it was the frame work (gantry) but it seems to be a routing issue with JomSocial. Perhaps I may be mistaken as well...

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
