Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
Hi guys -
My questions is this (and i am new to JomSocial):
I want to develop a system with custom profiles. But on registration i want a (basic) user to be able to chose if they will be an artist or a venue manager. So after the initial demographics the registration process needs to branch based on the option chosen. If i chose 'Artist', then i would get different options, such as what instrument i play, etc. Following this, they will finish the registration and will have the appropriate profile. Is this possible? is there a way in JS do do this or a different addon?
Thank you for contacting us.
Yes, exactly that way multiple profile feature works.
You create set of fields. Then you create multiple profiles and assign certain fields to a profile. That way you have two profiles with different fields assigned.
Did you know that we also provide Private Support Tickets?
Just use this form:
www.jomsocial.com/submit-support
Support provided that way is much faster and all your license details are added to the ticket so you don't need to send them :)
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Hi Michal -
Thanks for the quick response.
My question was more geared around registration time. A branching question at maybe step 2. Like "Are you an artist or a venue?"
Based on that response maybe goes and only allows the user those specific fields. As of right now, it seems the user needs to enter ALL fields and then choose which profile to assign themselves to ..
Robert
No as registration flow is as following (presuming that you have already created Multiple profiles and they are published)
1. Obligatory Joomla! registration fields: name, user name, email, password
2. Choosing profile type (the one created in Multiprofile in jomSocial) - let's say that you take Artist profile
3. Profile fields assigned to Artist profile type only
4. Upload avatar
5. Success page
