ISSUE SUMMARY:

This is not really an issue, more of a configuration question. :-)

Right now, when a user posts a new status message, the default visibility setting is set to Site Members. Is is possible to have it default to Friends Only?

And secondly, is it possible to remove the Public status. The entire platform is registered use only, so it makes no sense to have the Public option available in the drop-down options. Is this possible?

So the list now shows: Public, Site Members, Friends, Only Me.
Is there a way to remove "Public" so the available options are only Site Members, Friends, Only Me?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, Cavere.

Thank you for contacting us.
There are two options: or you allow users to set status privacy each time they write (with Public by default) or you set it to follow Profile privacy. It seems that currently you use second options thus all status posts become "Members Only".

So you may change Profile privacy settings to Friends only and posts will follow.
But I guess you rather wont to keep current level of profile privacy.

So I assign developer to take a look at this and suggest solution.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi Michał,

Thanks for the quick reply! You are absolutely right, we would prefer to keep the Profile privacy setting (set to Members) but only Status privacy to Friends (by default).

Thanks for looking into it!

Hi Dimas,

Thanks for the tip! I made that core edit and the privacy settings are now correct, except for the status message. That one is still listing the "Public" option. See the attached screenshot.

Any idea how to get rid of that option too?

Thanks again,
Steven

Hi Cavere,

That part is bit tricky, because need to edit from javascript bundle file.. but well, try this css trick to hide the public dropdown :

li[data-priv~="public"] {
    display: none;
}

thank you!

Hi Dimas,

My apologies for the response.

Your workaround works perfectly, thanks!
