ISSUE SUMMARY:
How do I disable the Jomsocial Toolbar? I want to remove it or hide it, as I have all of those links set up elsewhere.

There is 2 solution, by override the template and css hack

1. Override method: please you copy file components/com_community/templates/layouts/toolbar/base.php to your override template folder and delete all codes inside it.. read here for the doc documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Customizing_Template

2. CSS hack : add this css code on your css file :

.joms-toolbar--desktop, joms-toolbar {
    display: none;
}
