Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
Performance very slow, does not appear to be server related
ISSUE SUMMARY:
Site page load and rendering between menu clicks is very slow, especially after frontend login.
We have tested the server and it does not appear to be the problem. This site has long page load and rendering times that we do not see on other sites on the same server. Server has plenty of CPU and memory overhead.
Please tell me if you see any issues with our Jomsocial configuration or navigation that are impacting performance. Also do you have any specific tweaks that they recommend for PHP or anything else? Thank you.
Using:
Joomla 3.6.0
Jomsocial 4.2.2
PHP 5.6.24
STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 go to [url]
2 test site load time
3 then log into frontend
4 test after login
5
RESULT 6 or more seconds load pre and post login, slow rendering between menu clicks
EXPECTED RESULT much faster
BROWSER Firefox, Safari, iOS, Chrome
Thank you. Per your instructions in the case #165805 you directed us to, we changed all instances of 5000 to 50 in the helper.php file in mod_community_members. After further testing, it does not appear to improve performance. It took 25 seconds before the video page was fully rendered and 15 seconds to go back to the home page from there.
Also -- since this is now a known bug, should we upgrade from 4.2.2 to 4.2.4 now or wait for the next version?
We have determined the major cause of the slowdown. It is how JUX Mega Menu behaves with a JomSocial menu item.
We have a menu item for a Member Directory. It appears that JUX resolves that for each page load so you can see it when you hover over the menu item rather than waiting for a user to click on it. We have submitted a support ticket to JUX and are waiting to hear back.
In the meantime, if anyone knows about this, we'd be grateful for any insights
