User language bug

JomSocial Active iSEO Expired Socialize Expired

It is a great that a user can select his own language preference in Jomsocial. But there is a bug in how the localization is being used.

Say I register as an English speaking user. Irina registers as a Spanish speaking user. Then I am OK with her posting messages in Spanish. But I am not OK getting all status messages from jomsocial in Spanish.

I expect the emails and JS notifications to be in English, and not Spanish.

The way it is now, JS sends you the whole notification in the language of the user that caused the notification, and not in the language of the RECEIVING user - instead of receiving a notification that a (Spanish) user LIKED YOUR PHOTO, you get the whole notification in THEIR language, like:
----
Hola,
A Irina le gusta tu foto.
Puedes ver la foto en: <URL>
¡Que tengas un buen día!
----

This is wrong. You can also see from the attached image that the JS notifications appears in a mix of languages. Please have this language logic fixed.

HI, Andre.

This is actually Joomla! core issue.
Any messages are generated in authors language.
We can't skip that easily as we would need to develop our own system that handles language usage.
It was raised few times on forum.

You may start a conversation in our Community and tag Sinisa - he'll explain it with more details.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
