ISSUE SUMMARY:

When my previous developer set up the Jomsocial customized fields, he put the field data in the reverse order. What I mean is, for the Weight field, they entered the data in this field order:

381 - 390

And the CORRECT order should have been the reverse:

So my question is this:
When I go into the Weight field and reverse the order to correct it, it messes up all of the User's data. For example - my Weight is no longer 200lbs, it's NOW 400lbs - which is not correct. How can I change the order of these field options without messing up all of the individual User's data?

You only need change the order manually from Jomsocial profile fields setting, it would be safe..

but play safety by backup your data first.

That would be impossible. We have 20,000 users and cannot manually change each one individually or ask them to do so - that will never successfully happen.

How can I change the order without compromising ALL 20,000 User's data?

There has to be a way to properly rearrange this.

People must want to add to existing fields all the time or Alphabetize existing fields. For example, if I have an Ethnicity Field and list African American, Caucasian, Middle Eastern and then realize 10,000 new Users later, we forgot to add Asian as an ethnicity and insert it, it will screw up all of the other User's data. We cannot be expecting all of our Users to re-update each field. That would be unrealistic.

Here is the screen shot. I am trying to "Edit" the field order on the Admin section. When I do this, and reverse the order within the field, it CHANGES all 20,000 Users profiles profile information for THAT field. This CANNOT happen. I cannot expect 20,000 Users to "update" their profiles. That would be impossible.

I also need to Alphabetize several other fields, but when I go into each individual field, I can't because it changes all 20,000 Users profile info for that field.

This must happen to other websites. As time goes by, you add other field options to the fields (Maybe add more ethnicities or sports or cities or whatever. But how can this be done without changing compromising the user's data?

You are using old Jomsocial version, please you upgrade your jomsocial to the latest version. And change the order manually from custom profile configuration.. it will be safe, I already tried it on my local and fine.
