ISSUE SUMMARY:i am needing to set my profile URLs to mysite.com/profile/name

i have done this before, but now it seems as if its all over the place with the words index.php included. how can i fix this

that depending with joomla configuration. jomsocial running under joomla.
goto joomla backend > system > global configuration, site section.
activate Search Engine Friendly URLs and Use URL rewriting.

how do i activate the joomla .htaccess file

open FTP and browse to your site folder. you can see this file:
htaccess.txt
rename it to .htaccess

if still cant. please provide me FTP access detail by editing your first post at this topic. put it at site info form (private)
