Hello there.
I have noticed that users are able to browse my js site without being registered.
Is there a way that the site can redirect to the front main welcome page of jomsocial in order that they need to be a member to browse any part of the site?
I would like to lock it down, just the same as facebook where you cannot visit pages unless you are registered and signed in.
Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere that explains how to do this?
Thanks!
Hi Gavin,
Seems your issue already fixed? as guest I cant browse the members, eg this page
yoursite.net/index.php?option=com_community&view=members
, which you can to browse the members, but the fact you cant.
thank you!
mysite.net/index.php/3002-blessing4love/photos is one example. Also a Google search with the site name shows more areas. People use them to access the site without logging in :s
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply,
Making the menu 'registered' works, but stops the front page login from displaying correctly. Instead of the jomsocial image and the welcome text, users get an ugly page that says "Please login first", is there a way to make it so the main Jomsocial welcome screen appears?
Hi gavin,
For the solution you can use module for login, and create custom page to show the image and your site description.
thank you
I'm not sure how to do that. Is there a way I can copy the JomSocial one and move it to the custom page? What might be the code and where would I put it? I assume it would be easy and also I am sure many other customers might like this also :)
I suggest you create the single article from now put the image and the hellome login on that page, set as a default page..
custom code is not easy to be achived but that can be a solution.
just a note, I cant help you further with this configuration :)
thank you
Hmm.. I see on roadmap 4.3 is ACL. Would this fix the problem I am having? If so, I can wait. Otherwise seems a glaring problem for people wanting to keep site 100 percent registered only and also keep the lovely JomSocial login page.
Maybe it can be made that the login page is a separate extention? I'm not sure if it could work but is an idea...
Hi Gavin,
Yes, you can use the different login page, use another extenstions or use module.
We will create some improvement ACL in 4.3, this issue can be totally fixed there.
thank you
